Organization
We are a non-profit
community based athletic organization serving the greater Boston area from the young first
graders to senior citizens, both men and women are equally involved in Newton Judo Club
classes.
Our purpose is to
bring the joy and power of Judo available to participants in their everyday life, at Judo
practice, course and competition.
Judo as a Sport
Judo is principally a sport for
competition, similar to wrestling. Judo is an Olympic sport,
and was first introduced at 1964 Olympic games in Tokyo. Judo
is competed internationally, by both men and women. In the
United States, some of the well known competitors are Mike
Swain, who won a Silver medal at 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea
- Jason Morris, who won a Silver medal in the 1992 Olympics
in Barcelona, Spain - Jim Pedro of Danvers, Massachusetts
who won a a bronze medal in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
He won six matches at the
1999 World Championships and is only the third American in
history to win a judo world title.

We are in Newton
Center, Massachusetts, in the United States. We serve
people from all over greater Boston Metro area. Towns near
us are: Ashland, Belmont, Boston, Cambridge, Concord, Dedham,
Framingham, Hopkinton, Lexington, Natick, Needham, Waltham,
